The JBL Control 28-1 is a high-output two-way 8 in speaker for indoor and outdoor spaces that need more level than a compact surface mount can deliver. This pair covers retail floors, restaurants, health clubs, theme parks, schools, and hospitality areas where music and paging run through the same system all day.

The 200 mm (8 in) woofer uses a woven-fiberglass cone with a butyl rubber surround and WeatherEdge frame protection, a high-temperature fiberglass voice coil former, and an FEA-optimized motor. A 25 mm (1 in) PEI diaphragm tweeter with fluid cooling handles the top. Together they cover 45 Hz to 20 kHz, low enough that music has real bass without adding a subwoofer.

Power handling is 120 W continuous pink noise with 480 W peaks and 240 W continuous program at 8 ohms. Sensitivity is 91 dB, producing 112 dB average continuous SPL and 118 dB peak at one meter. Coverage is 100 by 100 degrees.

The built-in multi-tap transformer offers 70V taps at 60 W, 30 W, 15 W, and 7.5 W (100V: 60 W, 30 W, 15 W) with under 0.94 dB insertion loss, or use the 8 ohm thru setting for a local amplifier.

InvisiBall wall-mount hardware and a 6 mm hex key ship in the box. The system installs through a hidden access point behind the logo badge, so no bracket shows and the speaker is not casually removable. Two 6 mm attachment points accept the optional MTC-28UB-1 U-bracket, and a safety loop sits on the back panel.

The glass-filled polystyrene enclosure and zinc-plated grille are IP-44 rated and exceed Mil Spec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV. Each speaker weighs 15.0 lb and measures 15.2 x 11.1 x 8.6 in.
