The JBL CSS8008 is a 200 mm (8 in) dual-cone ceiling speaker for paging and background music in larger rooms. The bigger cone pulls the frequency range down to 55 Hz, so music has body rather than sounding thin over a paging speaker, and sensitivity of 96 dB is high enough to fill a room from the lowest transformer taps. That efficiency matters on long distributed lines, where every watt saved per speaker lets you add more units to the same amplifier. Coverage is 120 degrees, suited to standard commercial ceiling heights with speakers spaced across a floor plan. The built-in transformer provides 25V, 70V and 100V taps at 5 W, 2.5 W, 1.3 W and 0.7 W with bare wire connection and a maximum insertion loss of 1.5 dB, and driver continuous power handling is 15 W. Mount it open-back in a 216 mm (8.5 in) cutout at just 71 mm depth behind the grille, or in the matching CSS-BB8 back can where an enclosure is required. Grille diameter is 327 mm (12.9 in) and the unit weighs 2.8 lb. Common installs include restaurants, retail stores, offices, schools, warehouses, lobbies and gymnasium corridors.
