Product Description

The VRX918SP is a powered, suspendable 18-inch subwoofer in a front-loaded vented enclosure, built for arrays rather than floor stacks alone. A JBL 2268FF woofer with neodymium magnet and patented Differential Drive handles the low end, using a dual voice coil design that keeps weight down on a cabinet meant to hang overhead. The built-in JBL DrivePack DPC-2 amplifier module supplies 1,500W of peak power, and the DSP-based input module handles system optimization, EQ, and crossover, so the sub arrives at the venue already knowing its own settings. Frequency range runs 31 Hz to 220 Hz with 126 dB SPL peak output at 1 m. It was designed specifically for arrays with the VRX932LAP line array and the VRX-AF array frame, and it also works in arrays made up entirely of VRX918SP cabinets when a show needs a flown sub column. Integral rigging hardware connects enclosures to each other and to the optional array frame without loose parts to lose in the dark. A 20 mm threaded pole socket handles satellite mounting when the sub sits on the ground under a top box. A large port area cuts distortion at output, and 18 mm birch plywood with a Black DuraFlex finish and a foam-backed steel grille stands up to touring use.

Features

    • Fly The Low End

Integral rigging hardware and neodymium construction let the cabinet hang in arrays with VRX932LAP tops or in a column of VRX918SP subs.

    • Amplification Built In

The JBL DrivePack DPC-2 module supplies 1,500W of peak power inside the cabinet, so no amp rack or speaker runs are needed at the array.

    • Processing On Board

A DSP-based input module carries system optimization, EQ, and crossover settings with the cabinet, keeping tuning consistent from venue to venue.

    • Reach To 31 Hz

Frequency range extends to 31 Hz with 126 dB SPL peak output at 1 m, covering kick, bass, and playback content that smaller subs cannot.

    • Ground Stack Ready

A 20 mm threaded pole socket takes a satellite speaker when the sub works on the floor, so one cabinet covers flown and stacked configurations.
