Product Description

The KW-M690BW is a double-DIN receiver that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without a cable. Built-in Wi-Fi carries the connection, so your phone can stay in a pocket or a bag and still put maps, messages, and music on the 6.8-inch screen. USB remains available when you want a wired session or the faster charge.

The WSVGA display resolves about 1.6 times the detail of a conventional WVGA panel. It is a capacitive touchscreen with gesture control, so a swipe across the glass moves through tracks and menus. Wireless mirroring through the MirrorApp+ app covers apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto, including Waze, YouTube, and Instagram.

Audio output is 50W x 4 maximum and 22W x 4 full bandwidth. Tuning tools include a 13-band graphic EQ, 7 presets plus 3 user slots, bass boost, speaker size control, high- and low-pass filters, and time alignment. Two pairs of 2.5V preouts plus a mono subwoofer output feed external amplifiers.

Bluetooth handles calls through the built-in microphone with HFP wideband speech, AVRCP 1.6 song browsing, and automatic pairing for iPhone and Android. USB charging supplies up to 2.1A. A rear view camera input and RCA video output are on board, factory steering wheel controls carry over with a third-party adapter (sold separately), and the RM-RK259 remote is optional. Despite the double-DIN display, the rear chassis is short, which keeps cable routing manageable behind the dash.
