The 48TRTP82 packs an 8-inch active CompRT subwoofer and an 8-inch reFLEX passive radiator into a cabinet only 5-3/8 inches tall. It fires downward, so it works under a truck seat, in a cargo area or flat in a trunk where a conventional box has no chance. The passive radiator does the job of a port in far less space, extending low-end output without vent noise. Both cones are pre-wired to a single 2-ohm terminal, which keeps installation to one set of leads from a small monoblock amplifier. Power handling is 300 watts RMS with 600 W peak. Thick MDF walls and extensive internal bracing let the top panel carry stacked cargo, and the enclosure is sized to disappear under a rear bench. The CompRT sub uses a polypropylene cone bonded to a Santoprene surround with red double stitching, plus SoloKon cone-to-brace construction that stiffens the assembly and moves heat away from the motor. Forced-Air Cooling holds motor temperature about 20 percent lower than earlier designs.
