The CompQ 12-inch subwoofer in dual 4-ohm form is the round-basket version of the L7, built with nearly identical construction and performance. The difference between this and the 2-ohm model is wiring: dual 4-ohm coils give you 2 ohms in parallel or 8 ohms in series, and a pair of them opens up 1-ohm and 4-ohm options for a mono amplifier.

A cast aluminum frame gives the motor a stable, vibration-free base, so every note reaches your ears the way it was recorded instead of being blurred by basket flex. Recommended amplifier power runs 500 to 1,000 W RMS, with frequency response from 20 to 100 Hz and 85.4 dB sensitivity.

Getting down to 20 Hz is what separates this from a mid-bass driver. Electronic music, hip-hop, and movie soundtracks all place content below 30 Hz, and this sub reproduces it in a properly sized box.

Sealed enclosures from 0.88 to 2.0 cu ft deliver tighter, more controlled response in less space; vented enclosures from 1.75 to 3.25 cu ft trade size for output. Panel dimensions for a minimum sealed box are published for custom builds. Mounting depth is 7-1/8 inches with an 11-1/16 inch cutout, so check clearance before finalizing the design.
