Product Description

The Metra 40-EU55 connects the factory powered antenna in select 2002-and-newer VW, BMW and other European vehicles to the antenna input on an aftermarket radio. One end matches the vehicle's FAKRA-style factory plug, and the other end is the standard male antenna plug an aftermarket receiver accepts. These vehicles use an amplified antenna, so the adapter also passes the power feed the antenna needs, keeping AM/FM reception the same as it was with the original head unit. The connector bodies are molded plastic that seats squarely on the OEM plug, and the terminals are hand-assembled to OEM tolerances so the center pin stays in solid contact instead of backing out after a few years of vibration. Heat-resistant materials handle the temperature swings behind a dash. Pre-stripped ends keep the connection quick once the trim is already off.
