The Metra 82-5600 adapts the 6" x 8" factory speaker opening in select 1991-up Ford vehicles to accept 5.25" aftermarket speakers. If you have found the component set or coaxial you want and it only comes in 5.25", this bracket is what makes it fit.

Ford's 6x8 opening is one of the more limiting factory sizes, since the aftermarket offers far more choice in round 5.25" models. The bracket bridges that gap with a flat, correctly spaced mounting surface that uses the factory screw points, so nothing gets drilled into a door.

Mounting a smaller speaker in a larger opening only works if the surrounding area is sealed. This bracket closes off the extra space so the speaker loads properly against the door rather than losing output out the back of the frame.
