The Metra 82-9302 mounts 6" to 6.75" aftermarket speakers in the front door locations of a 2002-2008 Mini Cooper. The plates are shaped for this vehicle, so they use the factory speaker position and screw points instead of asking you to drill into a door.

Mini front doors are shallow and tightly packed, which is exactly why a purpose-cut plate matters here. It sets the speaker at a depth that clears the window mechanism and the door card, and it gives the frame a flat surface to bolt against so nothing flexes when you turn it up.

Sealing the opening is the other half of the job. With the plate closing off the gaps, midbass loads against the door and reaches the cabin rather than canceling out behind the panel.
