Arturia Minifreak 37-Key Algorithmic Synthesizer USB MIDI Polyphonic Synth

MiniFreak is a six-voice polyphonic hybrid synthesizer with two digital sound engines feeding real polyphonic analog filters and VCAs. Twenty-two oscillator modes span the range, including open-source engines from Mutable Instruments and three algorithms built with Noise Engineering that combine wavefolding, phase modulation, and harmonic manipulation. Engine 2 can process Engine 1, so the two stack and interact instead of just layering.

Analog filters give the digital oscillators warmth and response, taking the edge off harsher modes while keeping their clarity. Three digital FX slots run in insert or send mode with ten effects to pick from, covering reverb and space, textural processing, and heavy destruction.

Modulation is deep for a synth this size: a mod matrix with seven sources and 13 destinations, one envelope and one cycling envelope per voice, two LFOs per voice, and user-customizable LFO curves. An OLED display shows routings and values in real time.

A 64-step sequencer across four pages of 16 steps records four lanes of automated modulation, and the arpeggiator includes performance controls like Ratchet and Octave Randomize. Scale and Chord modes keep parts in key and voiced correctly while you experiment.

The 37-note velocity-sensitive Slim-key keybed has aftertouch, and voicing is configurable as six-voice polyphonic, 12-voice paraphonic, unison, or mono. Connections cover MIDI in, out and thru, USB, sustain, audio in, clock in and out, and balanced stereo outputs. There are 256 factory presets and 256 user slots. It weighs 6.48 lb.
