Product Description

The MTX 5515-22 is a 15" high-SPL car audio subwoofer from the 55 Series, built for systems where bass output is the priority. It borrows hardware from the MTX 75 and 95 Series SuperWoofers, so it plays hard and loud for long stretches while keeping bass accurate rather than muddy.

Dual 2" 2-ohm voice coils handle 400 W RMS and 800 W peak, matched to a mono amplifier in the 200-400 W RMS range. Dual coils give you wiring options: run them in series or parallel to land on the impedance where your amplifier makes its rated power, or wire a pair of woofers together for a bigger system. Frequency response covers 19Hz - 130Hz at 85.4 dB sensitivity.

Thermal control comes in two layers. Spider Plateau Venting is a mechanical cooling process that targets cool air at the voice coil, and a radial ribbed t-yoke acts as a heat sink to pull temperature out of the motor. That combination keeps the woofer playing at volume instead of compressing after a few songs.

The MTX Inverted Apex surround is narrower than a traditional half roll, which widens the effective cone diameter for 85.43 cu in of volume displacement and higher SPL. A progressive suspension lowers distortion at high excursion. Use a sealed box of 1.5 cu ft or a vented box of 2.48 cu ft, in a trunk, hatch, truck cab, or custom wall build.

Features

    • Built for Output

400 W RMS and 800 W peak handling on a 15" cone moves enough air to make bass a physical experience, not just something you hear.

    • Wiring That Fits Your Amp

Dual 2-ohm voice coils wire in series or parallel, letting you match the impedance where your mono amplifier makes full rated power.

    • Two-Stage Cooling

Spider Plateau Venting feeds cool air to the voice coil while a radial ribbed t-yoke sheds heat, so output stays consistent through long, loud sessions.

    • Deeper Bass, More Air

The Inverted Apex surround increases effective cone diameter for 85.43 cu in of volume displacement, translating directly into higher SPL from the same box.

    • Clean at Full Excursion

Progressive suspension keeps cone travel controlled at high power, cutting distortion so bass lines stay defined rather than turning into noise.
