NPB3 Dual 4" Bluetooth Boombox Speaker

The NYC Acoustics NPB3 is a portable Bluetooth boombox built around two 4" woofers and 30W of peak power (10W RMS), loud enough to hear across a basketball court or a backyard rather than only from arm's length. A 1200mAh battery gives 5 to 6 hours at normal volume and 3 to 4 hours pushed hard, then recharges in 3 to 4 hours over the included USB cable, so there is no proprietary charger to lose.

Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR pairs without a password, holds a signal out to 33 ft, and reconnects to devices it has already seen. When you want something other than your phone, the NPB3 plays from USB drives and SD cards, pulls in AM and FM radio through its built-in antenna, and takes a wired connection through the 3.5mm plug on the included cable. Track, volume, and playback controls sit on the unit and on the remote, and an LED display shows what is playing.

Sound comes out of a thick wood enclosure instead of thin plastic, which is why bass stays present across a 100Hz to 20kHz response with distortion under 1% and an 80dB signal-to-noise ratio. An LED inside each woofer blinks to the beat and reflects off the silver cones, which suits a party without turning the speaker into a light rig.

At 12.9" x 5.9" x 8.74" and 3.37 lb, the NPB3 travels in a backpack or gym bag. It works on a kitchen counter, a desk at the office, a bedroom shelf, a campsite table, a beach blanket, or the sideline of a pickup game.
