PRESONUS ATOM 16 Pad USB MIDI RGB DJ Controller+Studio One Recording Software

ATOM is a USB MIDI pad controller built for making beats, playing virtual instruments, and triggering samples and loops without staring at a screen. Sixteen full-size pads read both velocity and pressure, so a light ghost note and a hard accent land differently. Pressure output is switchable between polyphonic aftertouch, channel pressure, or MIDI CC messages, and selectable velocity curves and pressure thresholds let you match the feel to how you play.

Eight assignable pad banks give you 128 pad slots for kits, one-shots, and clips. Four endless rotary encoders handle filter sweeps, levels, and plug-in parameters in real time, while 20 assignable buttons cover transport, mode switching, and session control. RGB LEDs under each pad show status and color coding at a glance.

Studio One Artist is included and detects ATOM automatically with no setup, switching between Keyboard and Drum modes based on the sound you select. From the controller you can create a track, change presets, set loop points, adjust tempo, and quantize MIDI. With Ableton Live 10.1.5 or later, ATOM launches clips and scenes, controls track volume and panning, and switches between Session and Arranger views. It also works with most other music production software over standard MIDI.

At 7.95 inches wide and 1 lb, fully bus-powered over USB 2.0, ATOM fits in a backpack next to a laptop, which suits bedroom studios, dorm rooms, tour buses, and stage rigs equally. Note Repeat mode covers fast hi-hat rolls and Full Velocity mode keeps one-shot triggering consistent. Add a second ATOM and use one unit to perform while the other launches and records clips.
