RF PRO

The Reflexion Filter Pro is the original portable acoustic treatment device, patented by sE in 2006, and it remains the reference point for the category. It mounts on a mic stand behind the microphone and absorbs the room reflections that would otherwise arrive at the capsule a few milliseconds after the direct sound, which is what makes home recordings sound boxy and distant.

The patented multi-layer construction is the reason it works evenly. Cheap single-layer shields absorb high frequencies and let everything below a few hundred hertz straight through, which leaves a thin, filtered sound. The RF Pro treats the whole spectrum at a consistent rate, so a vocal comes out closer and drier without a change in tone. That neutrality is why it turns up in commercial studios as often as in bedrooms.

Setup is straightforward: the included mounting bracket fits a standard mic stand, the thread adapter covers common thread sizes, and a screw wrench is supplied for assembly. Position is adjustable in height and distance so you can set how much of the room stays in the take.

Each unit is hand-made in the sE factory. It works on vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar and bass cabinets, strings, piano, woodwinds, brass, kick drum, and room mics.
