sE8 Pair

This pair of sE8 small-diaphragm true condensers is built for stereo work on the sources that punish a mic hardest: drum overheads, cymbals and hi-hats, plus acoustic guitar, piano, choir, orchestral strings, woodwinds and percussion.

Each mic carries a hand-made 1/2" true condenser capsule with a sophisticated backplate design that keeps response balanced rather than hyped up top, so cymbals arrive full instead of brittle on both channels. Self-noise of 13 dB is among the lowest in the small-capsule class, keeping quiet acoustic passages clean, and max SPL of 159 dB with the -20 dB pad gives the pair the widest dynamic range and SPL handling in its class.

Two matched mics open up the standard stereo techniques: spaced pair over a kit, XY or ORTF on acoustic guitar, near-coincident on choir, and Decca-style arrays over an ensemble. Integrated 80 and 160 Hz low-cut filters plus -10 / -20 dB pads let you set trim and level at each mic.

Both all-metal bodies measure 23 mm across and 120 mm long at 141 g, small enough to fit between cymbals and toms, and both accept sE8 omni capsules (sold separately) for open room capture. Mic clips with thread adapters and wind screens are included.
