That small amount of height matters: it moves the tweeter up toward ear level at a desk and reduces the reflections a hard desktop sends back at you, which is the most common cause of a boxy sounding home studio. Heavy duty construction with quad support gives each stand strength and stability under load, and the platform fits large bookshelf speakers rather than only compact satellites. All necessary mounting hardware ships in the box, so you can assemble both stands and attach your speakers in one sitting.
