The D16-31 is a 16 volt AGM racing battery in the larger BCI Group 31 case, built for race cars with high-compression engines and heavy electrical demands. Peak output reaches 5,000 amps with 1,130 cranking amps and 994 cold cranking amps, so the starter spins a tight motor quickly instead of dragging. The Group 31 footprint buys capacity: 98Ah and 197 minutes of reserve, roughly double a Group 34, which is what matters in a car that sits in staging with fans, fuel pump, ignition, gauges, and data logging all running and no alternator turning. Higher supply voltage also gives the ECU and fuel system headroom under load. Absorbent Glass Mat construction is sealed against spills and moisture and handles the vibration a race car puts into everything bolted to it, so trunk, cage box, or behind-seat mounting are all workable. At 76 lb it needs a proper hold-down. 587 stud adapter hardware is included, converting the terminals to 3/8 inch studs for heavy gauge cable. Running 16 volts requires a charging system and accessories rated for it, or a step-down module to feed 12 volt circuits.
